Show In A Day – Moulin Rouge

Show In A Day – Moulin Rouge

On Monday 90 of our talented senior school pupils participated in our production of Moulin Rouge: Musical in a Day. Our cast were given the challenging task of learning an entire show, including harmonies, dance sequences, and scenes, in just eight hours with rehearsals from 8:30 in the morning until 5:30 right up to the show at 6:30pm the same day.

The idea behind the show in a day is to give people who don’t usually take part in, or don’t usually have time to commit to Performing Arts, a chance to get involved. Every song and dance was carefully planned to make it accessible to less experienced performers whilst also being visually impressive. This was done with the help of the amazing team of guest stars who came in for the day to help teach and choreograph. These included Alicia Mencia, who is currently part of the cast of Moulin Rouge in the West End, Aundrea Nye from The Voice UK, Christopher Edward from the national tour of The Jersey Boys, and Daniele Coombe who was in the original casts of The Sound of Music and Oliver! We were incredibly lucky to be able to welcome them and have their expertise and experience to help add a theatrical flair to our performance.

We are so proud of our amazing task managing and preparing such an impressive and entertaining performance in so little time. Well done everyone!
