Blackdown Community Day: A Heartfelt Success!

We are thrilled to share that our recent Community Day was an overwhelming success! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our pupils and families, we collected close to 700 items for the Taunton Foodbank.

The energy on campus was electric as the Blackdown community came together to support our local neighbors while enjoying some well-earned “serious fun.”

Our donation drive was designed to reward every act of kindness. For every food item or “Bag for Life” brought in, pupils earned a token to participate in our exciting breaktime activities. Additionally, each donated item acted as an entry into our grand prize draw—the more items a student brought in, the more times their name was entered into the raffle! Seeing the donation bins overflow was a true testament to the spirit of our school.

The Prep court and playing fields were buzzing with activity as pupils used their tokens to take on various challenges. Students stepped up to the crease to test their batting skills against our staff bowlers in Cricket, while over on the pitch, there were nail-biting moments as pupils took Football penalty shots against our Senior school goalkeepers. Others chose to zoom around the Prep court in Go-Karts, making the most of every token earned.

With so many entries in the hat, the competition for our raffle prizes was high! We had some truly special experiences up for grabs. Winners earned VIP treatment like skipping the lunch queue with a friend and Double Dessert vouchers. Animal lovers enjoyed dog walks around the grounds with Percy, Zeus, Tawyn, or Mavis, and special meet-and-greets with Mrs. Matthews’ guinea pigs. Other lucky pupils won a mini photoshoot with the Marketing team or extra time with their favorite teachers.

This day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our community. A massive thank you to our staff volunteers for their time and good humor, and a special shout-out to the Seniors who stepped into the net as our goalkeepers for the day.
