Prep School 

Netball 

U11 A&B 

The U11 A and B teams enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of netball at Millfield Prep School, competing in their U11 tournament. The girls played with determination, battling for every ball and showcasing impressive passages of play. Their teamwork shone throughout the competition. The B team had a strong performance, securing three wins, two draws, and finishing third overall. The A team faced several closely contested matches, saving their best netball for the final game, where they claimed a convincing victory. A huge well done to all the players for representing Queen’s so brilliantly, and thank you to the supporters for their encouragement.

U10

Unfortunately, Wednesday’s U10 matches were cancelled due to transport issues at Millfield. However, the Year 6 girls still had a brilliant afternoon, traveling to Exeter to play Maynards. The evenly matched games provided great competition, and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience, making the most of the opportunity to develop their skills in a friendly and competitive environment.

Hockey 

U11A
The U11A team showed promising moments throughout their match, creating several goal-scoring opportunities. However, despite their attacking efforts, they struggled to convert chances into goals.

U11B
A competitive and hard-fought match saw both teams demonstrate great effort and determination. Strong teamwork and communication were evident, with excellent passing sequences and attacking plays highlighting their progress. Defensively, the boys showed resilience, though maintaining focus out of possession will be an area to develop. Their positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic were commendable, and with continued dedication, they will keep improving.

U10A
In a closely contested game against West Buckland, the U10A team applied their recent training focus on quick passing and utilising space. This translated into dynamic attacking play, resulting in well-worked goals. Despite dominating possession and some excellent goalkeeping, Queen’s conceded late goals, leading to a well-earned draw. The next training session will focus on defensive positioning and marking.

U10B
A fiercely competitive match saw Queen’s edge ahead with tenacious midfield play and clinical finishing from the forwards. Solid defensive work made a key difference, with Ege putting in an outstanding performance at the back, making crucial tackles and interceptions. Another excellent team effort!

Senior School 

Netball 

1st Team

A thrilling home match against Leweston saw the 1st team claim a well-earned victory. Strong defensive play led to multiple interceptions, which were effectively transitioned through the midcourt and converted by the shooters. While there are areas to refine, the team delivered a solid performance, making this a deserved win.

2nd Team

The 2nd team continues to take to the court with unwavering enthusiasm, bringing a positive energy that lifts everyone around them. Despite the final score not reflecting their skill and teamwork, the squad displayed great progress. Plenty of positives to build on in future matches!

U15A

A nail-biting match for the U15A team, with the winning goal scored in the final seconds. A commanding first-half lead was lost in a tricky third quarter, leaving the teams level at 12-12 heading into the final ten minutes. Strong teamwork and determined defending from Annabelle and Issy, along with accurate shooting from Megan, secured the victory. A well-fought and exciting contest!

U14A

A fantastic team performance from the U14As, showing real promise for the future. The squad started strong, narrowly winning the first quarter. As the game progressed, they recognised the need for smarter passing, avoiding high looping balls that could cost possession. Their composure and tactical awareness improved in the second half, resulting in a dominant 26-13 win. Player of the Match awards went to Bea (GS) and Talya (GD) for their outstanding contributions.

U13A

The match against Leweston began as a low-scoring battle, with turnovers and penalties affecting both sides. As the game progressed, Queen’s improved their control and decision-making, making effective use of versatile players, including Lola, who impressed in both attacking and defensive roles. Heading into the final quarter with a 10-7 lead, Queen’s fought hard but were caught by a late Leweston surge, ending in a 10-10 draw. A keenly contested game with lots of positives to take forward.

U12A

A tough encounter against a well-drilled opposition. Despite the result, the team showed encouraging play, particularly in the middle third, where they made some excellent interceptions. Their resilience and determination throughout the match were commendable, setting a strong foundation for future performances.

Exeter Cathedral Block (U12A, U13A & U13C)

The fixture against Exeter Cathedral School provided valuable court time for all players, allowing the girls to rotate through different combinations and positions. The focus was on gaining match experience while developing a deeper understanding of team dynamics. Players were encouraged to observe and analyse performances using a structured evaluation document, helping them reflect on key aspects of play. A great opportunity for growth, with all players showing fantastic effort and appreciation for their teammates’ support.

Hockey 

1st XI

The 1st XI battled hard against strong opposition, showing resilience despite a challenging 7-0 loss. Mo delivered an outstanding performance in goal, making several crucial saves to keep the scoreline in check, while Ben worked tirelessly at left-back, making key tackles and providing solid defensive cover.

Despite sustained pressure from the opposition, the team maintained their work rate and determination throughout. Although the result was disappointing, the effort and commitment on display provided plenty of positives to build on for the next fixture.

2nd XI

The 2nd XI displayed determination and spirit in their match against Wells Cathedral but ultimately fell to a 3-0 defeat. The team started strongly, showing great focus and creating several attacking opportunities. Theo controlled the midfield, while James and Zac provided quick attacking play.

Ollie was solid in goal, pulling off key saves to keep Queen’s in the match, but Wells Cathedral proved clinical in the final quarter, converting their chances into goals. Despite the result, the team showed promising moments, particularly in midfield, where their build-up play was strong. Their perseverance and teamwork were evident throughout, and they can take pride in their effort as they continue to develop.

U15A 

The U15A team put in a determined performance on Saturday as they travelled to face a well-organised and high-tempo Wells Cathedral side. From the first whistle, the hosts applied relentless pressure, forcing Queen’s deep into their half. Goalkeeper Ilias was in outstanding form, making a series of crucial saves to keep the game level. Captain Oli L worked tirelessly to create attacking opportunities, while defenders Oli J and Ben made vital interceptions and blocks to ensure the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

After the break, Queen’s looked to push forward, with Tristan testing the Wells defence and forcing an early short corner. At the other end, Ben produced a heroic goal-line clearance to keep the hosts at bay. However, Wells eventually broke the deadlock with a well-executed attacking move, edging into a 1-0 lead.

Despite a spirited effort in the closing stages, Queen’s were unable to find an equaliser. It was a strong performance against tough opposition, and the team will take plenty of positives into their next fixture.

U13A 

The U13A team produced an impressive display of determination and energy, securing a 4-1 win in their latest fixture. From the outset, they played with intensity, pressing high and moving the ball with confidence.

The breakthrough came early in the first half when a well-worked team move set up Tom for a clinical finish past the opposition goalkeeper. Maintaining the pressure, Queen’s soon doubled their lead with a precise strike from the edge of the D.

The opposition responded with a goal before halftime, but strong defensive work kept them at bay. In the second half, Queen’s continued to dominate, with a brilliant solo run leading to a third goal as a midfielder weaved past defenders before slotting home. As the match drew to a close, relentless pressing forced an error from the opposition, allowing Queen’s to seal the win with a fourth goal.

U12B

The U12B team delivered a fantastic performance, demonstrating effort, determination, and teamwork from start to finish. Defensively, they were rock-solid, shutting down attacks with discipline and resilience, making it difficult for the opposition to break through.

Going forward, they created plenty of chances and applied continuous pressure, keeping their opponents on the back foot. Their organisation and focus were outstanding, reflecting the hard work and commitment of the entire squad.
