For Life Week at Queen’s!
Pre Prep activities
Our youngest pupils enjoyed an exciting week packed with creativity, adventure and discovery
as part of For Life Week.
A highlight was baking delicious muffins with Mr Mann in the Leiths Kitchen.
Smartest Giant Day – brought Julia Donaldson’s much-loved story to life through a variety of
imaginative activities. Pupils searched the school grounds for pieces of the Giant’s clothing in
a treasure hunt, painted their own giant portraits, created stick puppets to retell the story and
made colourful crowns.
Outdoor Education Day saw pupils making the most of our beautiful surroundings.

Pupils also took on the exciting challenge of learning and performing the story of Goldilocks in
just one day. Through drama, music and movement, they built confidence, worked
collaboratively and showcased their creativity in a fantastic performance.

The week concluded with a visit to Wookey Hole. Pupils explored the famous
caves, discovered how underground rock formations are created and learned about the
history and legends of one of Somerset’s most iconic attractions, making it a memorable end
to a week of learning beyond the classroom.
Years 3 & 4
Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed a packed programme of activities that combined creativity, sport,
teamwork and adventure.


Back at school, pupils became chefs and restaurateurs for the day making delicious pizzas from scratch.

Professional circus performers visited Queen’s to teach pupils a range of exciting new skills,
including juggling and hula hooping. The workshops challenged pupils to develop their
balance, coordination and perseverance while trying something completely different.

Year 5
Pupils travelled to Wimbleball Lake for an exciting two night residential.
From water sports and team challenges to evenings spent making memories together, the
experience encouraged resilience, independence and teamwork while giving pupils the
confidence to step outside their comfort zones.
Year 6
Year 6 rounded off their time in Prep with an unforgettable five day residential in Scotland.
Packed with adventure, challenge and exploration, the trip saw pupils take part in a wide
range of outdoor activities while developing resilience, independence and teamwork against
the stunning backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. It was a fitting celebration of their final year
in Prep and a wonderful way to prepare for the next stage of their Queen’s journey.
Senior School – Week 1
Senior School pupils enjoyed a diverse programme of experiences this week, that combined academic
enrichment, practical skills and real-world learning creating a diverse and exciting For Life programme.
Year 10 spent the week undertaking work experience placements, giving them valuable opportunities to explore potential career pathways, develop employability skills and gain first-
hand experience of professional workplaces. From engineering and business to healthcare and hospitality, pupils experienced the realities of working life while building confidence and
independence. Example, Amelia completed work experience at APG in Amsterdam, gaining
valuable insight into an international professional workplace and developing her
understanding of future career opportunities. Emma undertook a placement at EDF Energy,
where she gained first-hand experience of the workplace while developing valuable
professional and communication skills.

Year 7 pupils brought their classroom learning to life with an immersive visit to Glastonbury
Abbey, exploring one of Britain’s most significant historical sites and discovering its rich
history, medieval heritage and links to the legends of King Arthur. Languages Day also offered
another memorable experience for Year 7, with pupils embracing different cultures through
flamenco dancing, friendly games of French boules and a visit to the Languages Café, where
they practised their language skills in authentic real-world scenarios.

Year 8 travelled to the Devon Wake Park, making the most of the hot weather, they had a great day full of fun and activities. In school, they have enjoyed a morning of diverse maths activities, a performing arts morning and a creative Art afternoon
Year 9 enjoyed an action-packed programme throughout the week. In Business Studies,
pupils put their financial decision making to the test in an exciting trading game, learning about
investments, stocks and shares while developing their understanding of risk, strategy and
financial markets. In Design Technology, pupils designed, built and tested their own Formula 1
model cars, refining their designs through testing and evaluation while developing creativity,
problem solving and engineering skills.
They also took part in a self-defence course, learning
practical techniques that promoted confidence, personal
safety and awareness.


A Geography field trip to Lyme Regis gave pupils the opportunity to explore the famous Jurassic Coast, examine unique rock formations and search for fossils along the shoreline.
The visit provided valuable hands-on fieldwork, helping pupils deepen their understanding of
geological processes, coastal landscapes and Earth’s history.
Meanwhile, Year 12 pupils completed a certified First Aid course, gaining a nationally
recognised qualification while learning essential lifesaving skills and how to respond
confidently in emergency situations. Alongside this, they took part in leadership training
designed to strengthen their communication, teamwork and decision-making skills, preparing
them for positions of responsibility both within school and beyond.
Conclusion of For Life Week
From Pre Prep to Sixth Form, For Life Week is a celebration of learning beyond the
classroom. Whether pupils were exploring the outdoors, developing practical skills,
discovering potential career paths or simply spending time together with friends, every
experience was designed to help them grow in confidence, curiosity and character. It has
been a fantastic way to end another successful academic year, leaving pupils with lasting
memories and exciting stories to share over the summer holidays.
