Prep School

Netball

The U10 girls kicked off the week, playing in their own tournament at Queen’s. Despite a slightly depleted squad, the team gave it their all, playing with energy and enthusiasm throughout. A special mention goes to Emilie P, whose unwavering effort earned her Player of the Tournament.

The U9 girls travelled to Millfield for a fast-paced netball festival. The team displayed strong passing and plenty of goals, with great participation across the year group. Monday’s fixtures saw the U8 and U9 netballers take on Wellington. Their speed and determination shone through, as they worked hard to improve their marking. While shooting remains a focus, their efforts resulted in plenty of wins, reflecting the progress made this term.

On Wednesday, under glorious sunshine, Year 5 and 6 girls hosted Mount Kelly and West Buckland. With over 200 minutes of netball played and wins in all five matches, it was an afternoon full of positive sportsmanship and high-energy performances from all involved.

Football

The U9 footballers delivered a thrilling tournament performance, demonstrating intelligent play, unity, and fighting spirit. Joey D stole the show with a spectacular hat-trick, including an audacious flying kick that left spectators in awe. The team narrowly missed out in the final, finishing as runners-up, but their link-up play and determination made it a tournament to remember.

Hockey

The U11A hockey team played a game of two halves, dominating the first half with composure and control. However, Mount Kelly mounted a strong comeback, making for a scrappier second half. Plenty of lessons to take forward!

The U11B team delivered a fantastic display of teamwork, determination, and skill. They defended intelligently, intercepted well, and transitioned quickly into attack. A stunning goal from Alex P. sealed a well-deserved victory, while a clean sheet reflected their outstanding defensive performance.

The U10A and B hockey teams combined forces in a mixed fixture, producing excellent passing and movement to score early. The team defended brilliantly, limiting their opponents’ chances. Keeper Tom B. noted that using the full width of the pitch could create even more opportunities—a great takeaway for their next match.

Senior School

Hockey

1st Team

The 1st XI put in a strong and determined performance against Leweston but were narrowly edged out in a 3-2 defeat.

The team started positively, applying early pressure that was rewarded with a well-taken opening goal. Leweston quickly responded to level the score, but Queen’s regained the advantage at 2-1, thanks to a deflected effort from Tom that wrong-footed the opposition’s keeper.

The second half saw Queen’s dominate possession, pressing high and creating numerous scoring opportunities. However, despite controlling much of the game, the team was unable to find the decisive finish. Leweston capitalized on their limited chances, scoring twice against the run of play to secure the win.

A frustrating result, but plenty of positives to take forward, with the team showing great attacking intent and resilience throughout.

U15A

The U15A team travelled to Leweston looking to build on recent technical improvements. The match began at a fast tempo, with both teams showing energy and attacking intent.

Queen’s controlled possession in the first half, moving the ball well and creating several scoring opportunities. However, despite getting into strong positions, the team was unable to capitalise. Leweston posed a threat on the counter, forcing a series of short corners, but the defensive unit of Oli and Ben held firm, with the Queen’s goalkeeper making key saves to keep the score level.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Mata finished clinically in a one-on-one after a well-worked move from Oli L in midfield. Queen’s continued to push for a second goal but were left exposed at the back. A late defensive lapse allowed Leweston to equalise, ending the match 1-1. Despite the result, Queen’s demonstrated excellent ball movement, commitment, and technical progress, providing plenty of positives for future fixtures.

U14A 

The U14A squad delivered their best performance of the season, playing with excellent energy and teamwork in a convincing 7-0 victory. Their hard work on passing and team connection paid off, as they moved the ball seamlessly from stick to stick, creating multiple goal-scoring opportunities. Kirk had an outstanding game, scoring four goals and displaying composure and selfless play. Even with players shifting into new positions, the team adapted well, maintaining possession and executing their strategy effectively. A fantastic step forward in their development, with plenty more to come!

U13A

The U13A team played an intense and high-energy match against Blundell’s, finishing 4-4 in a thrilling encounter. Queen’s took the early lead, creating several opportunities but struggling to convert. The game truly came to life in the second half, with goals at both ends of the pitch. Tom produced a great finish, while superb pressing from Baliant ensured continuous pressure on the opposition. A fast-paced and exciting game, with plenty of positives to build on.

U12A

The U12A team faced a tough challenge against a strong Blundell’s side. The opposition started fast, capitalising on early chances to take control. After a challenging first half, Queen’s came out with renewed urgency, improving their defensive organisation and creating attacking opportunities. A well-taken goal saw them win the second half 1-1, demonstrating great resilience and determination. A valuable learning experience, with the second-half performance proving what the team is capable of when fully focused.

Netball

U13A 
The U13A team picked up right where they left off, delivering a commanding 16-7 victory against Mount Kelly. From the opening quarter, Queen’s set the tempo, with well-timed movement ensuring dominant possession. While the team’s control and execution were strong, the next step will be refining ball placement and maintaining a high-energy yet composed rhythm. A fantastic win with plenty to build on!

1st Team
The 1st Team secured a hard-fought 14-13 win in one of the most competitive fixtures of the season. Both teams battled relentlessly for possession, with high pressure applied across the court. With the scoreline tight throughout, it was a true team effort that saw Queen’s edge over the line, demonstrating determination and resilience to claim a well-earned victory.

2nd Team 
The 2nd Team put in a battling performance against a well-drilled Mount Kelly side. Despite a strong defensive display, including key interceptions from Rebecca, breaking the opposition’s rhythm proved difficult. However, a much-improved second half saw Queen’s convert more scoring opportunities, highlighting the team’s ability to adapt and improve. Players of the match: Molly and Robyn.

U15A
The U15A team delivered their best performance of the season, securing a thrilling 19-17 victory. After a close first quarter (5-3), the team regrouped and passionately discussed their next steps. Their tactical adjustments paid off, with the score level at 7-7 by halftime. The intensity increased in the second half, with Queen’s showing unwavering determination to pull ahead and claim the win. A fantastic display of teamwork and perseverance!

U14A
A dominant performance from the U14A team showcased their strong communication and teamwork. Taking the lead within seconds, Queen’s controlled the game throughout, with the defensive unit preventing Mount Kelly from scoring at all in the second half—a remarkable achievement! Accurate shooting and well-executed strategies from training were on full display, making for an impressive all-round performance.

U13s
The U13 team delivered a highly competitive performance, demonstrating great attacking movement and defensive intensity. Every player contributed, from GK to GS, putting their skills and effort into every interception and attacking play. A fantastic team effort!

U12s
Despite a tough result, the U12s produced a solid performance, particularly in the middle third where they displayed sharp movement, well-timed interceptions, and strong communication. The key challenge came from facing a tall and physical defensive duo from Mount Kelly. However, the team maintained their accuracy in shooting and played with great determination, showing plenty of positives for future matches.
