Last weekend, the Queen’s College Motorsport team took to the track at Dunsfold Park, famously known as the Top Gear test track. The team participated in the Dunsfold Park heat, where they raced their electric car against other competitors. Like the television show often filmed there, the race was not without its moments of drama, with two cars rolling over. Fortunately, the cars are designed with safety as a top priority, and both drivers emerged unharmed, though understandably a little shaken.
Queen’s College’s electric car performed well, with increasing reliability becoming evident. The team has now shifted focus to gathering key data, such as lap times and battery voltages, as they prepare for future races. This data will guide their efforts to make incremental improvements to the car’s performance.
The students have established a list of priority actions—some of which are longer-term projects for the winter, while others will be implemented ahead of the international final at Goodwood in October.
The team is eager for the next race, looking forward to testing the new changes and seeing how they impact performance.
