Prep School

Hockey

On Wednesday, the girls faced St Peter’s and Exeter Cathedral in a series of well-fought matches. The U10 girls demonstrated great improvement in their passing and tackling skills, showing impressive phases of attacking play that led to some fantastic goals. Their sportsmanship throughout both matches was also commendable—well done, girls! The U11 teams travelled to St Peter’s, where the A team showcased excellent passing to score multiple goals. Meanwhile, the Black and Gold teams enjoyed fast-paced and exciting games against each other and St Peter’s B team.

Rugby

The U11A rugby team travelled to Sherborne to compete in the regional IAPS festival. Despite facing fast opposition, the boys played valiantly. Mr Birlingham noted their commitment to teamwork and praised their continued skill improvement—a vital asset as they progress in the game.

The U11B and U10A teams took on Exeter Cathedral’s Year 6 and 5 boys. Though they faced initial challenges, the U11B side found their rhythm in the second half, confidently moving the ball and executing precise offloads as the game progressed. A strong start back from half-term for all involved!

U13A

Queen’s U13A put on a much-improved performance this week, displaying teamwork and strategic play. The team worked hard to create width on the pitch, enabling effective patterns of play that opened up several goal-scoring opportunities. Charlotte excelled in her new role on defence, and Kara put up a determined effort in midfield, frequently generating chances in the attacking zone. Anya made a strong debut for the U13A team, adding energy to the lineup.

With continued progress, the team looks forward to building on these successes in their weekend fixtures.

U13C

The U13C team faced off against St Peter’s U13B in a spirited game, fielding a large squad that rotated throughout the match. The girls were at their best when wingers spread wide, allowing for strategic through balls and creating scoring opportunities. Eliza impressed with her defensive vision and precise passes, while Pixie’s relentless energy in winning back possession and pushing forward was a standout performance. Peri showcased her progress by effectively closing down ball carriers before they could enter the D.

The game provided a valuable test in teamwork, with plenty of chances to challenge St Peter’s defence. Despite a near miss at goal from an impressive save by the opposing keeper, the final score of 6-0 belied an exciting match full of determination and growth for the team.

Football 

Queen’s 1st Team vs King’s Bruton – 3-0 Victory The Queen’s College Wyverns put on a dominant display against Kings Bruton, securing a 3-0 win

The Wyverns opened their season with a strong performance, kicking off with Sunny’s first goal for the team after a well-executed move. Theo doubled the lead with a powerful header from Ignacio’s pinpoint corner, and relentless attacking pressure forced an own goal from the opposition to secure the third.

Special recognition goes to Year 10s Ollie and Aidan, who seamlessly transitioned into first-team duties, bringing energy and skill to the lineup. Tim earned Man of the Match for his outstanding defensive play, rescuing the team from tight situations and preserving a clean sheet.

This impressive start has set the tone for a thrilling season ahead for the Wyverns.
