U15 – Queen’s vs. Pyrland School

Queen’s College took to their home pitch with determination, eager to make an impact against a strong Pyrland School side. The team started with intensity, scoring immediately from the opening kick-off. A penalty deep in Pyrland’s 22-yard area was quickly converted into a try as Oli H dived over the line. Joe added the conversion, securing an early 7-0 lead.

Pyrland responded swiftly, exploiting a defensive gap to score, but this only spurred Queen’s into action. Regaining control, Queen’s showcased a dominant performance, blending attacking flair with defensive resilience. Tries from Oli H, Oli J, Atticus, Carlos, and Sam followed in quick succession, while Joe’s exceptional kicking converted 90% of his attempts, keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Kamto and Tom were instrumental with powerful, skilful runs that consistently broke through Pyrland’s defence. The game ended in an emphatic victory for Queen’s, highlighting their discipline, teamwork, and creativity. This performance sets a strong tone as the team looks ahead to their final fixture of the term.

U13  –Queen’s vs Mount Kelly Festival

Queen’s U13 boys travelled to Mount Kelly on Wednesday to compete in their annual tournament. The team, a mix of U12 and U13 players, faced strong competition but delivered a commendable performance throughout the day.

On a small pitch that limited opportunities to stretch the play wide, the boys focused on physicality and precision, excelling in tackles and breakdowns. They secured victories against Penryn College and Stover but narrowly lost to Mount Kelly and Exeter School, who topped the group. Against Exeter, Queen’s competed fiercely, only losing 2-1 in a closely contested match.

In the playoffs, Queen’s faced Truro School on a larger pitch. Despite their efforts, they struggled to contain Truro’s fast winger, who capitalised on open space to score decisive tries.

The tournament was an invaluable experience for the team, allowing them to test their skills against high-quality opposition. The boys demonstrated growth in confidence and game understanding, making the day both challenging and enjoyable.
