Queen’s had the privilege of welcoming professional cricketer Alfie Ogborne of Somerset County Cricket Club for an inspiring session aimed at developing key sporting and personal skills. A talented left-arm bowler and an exceptional role model, Alfie engaged students in a Q&A session in the Birchall Hall, joined by Mr Venning, who also shared his sporting insights. The discussion focused on goal setting, overcoming challenges, and the demands of professional cricket, including training routines, mental preparation, and the experience of working alongside England internationals.
In the second half of the session, Alfie provided hands-on coaching to both senior and prep cricketers, offering expert insights into the technical aspects of bowling. Mrs Foster, Director of Cricket, led a fascinating discussion on death bowling under pressure and what makes Alfie unique as a bowler. A truly inspiring afternoon that reinforced the values Queen’s stands for—skill development, positivity, and resilience.
