Nursery & Queen’s Minis Update 28.02.25

Nursery

It has been a busy and exciting week in the Nursery, with the children taking part in a variety of activities!

In Cottontails, the focus has been on the jungle, and the children have loved exploring this lively theme. They enjoyed reading Animal Boogie and bringing the story to life through movement and play. Creativity was in full swing as they made their own animal masks, which are now proudly displayed in the room. They also had lots of fun with large-scale painting, using different wild animals as tools to create unique and colourful artwork.

Water play was another highlight, as the children enthusiastically washed the mud off the jungle animals in the sensory tray, combining imaginative play with sensory exploration. In their music sessions, Cottontails had a fantastic time dancing and moving like different animals, stomping like elephants and slithering like snakes!

Meanwhile, in Puddleducks, the children have been exploring the concepts of hot and cold through beach-themed role play and a sensory ice exploration. They were fascinated by the differences in temperature and texture, enjoying hands-on learning through play.

Outdoor play was in full swing, with the children developing their physical skills through a variety of energetic games in the garden. They took part in football, bat-and-ball games, and ring games, strengthening their coordination and teamwork while having plenty of fun.

Minis

This week, the children in Queen’s Minis have continued their theme of People Who Help Us, building on the excitement and learning that took place before half term. The hospital role play has been a big hit, with the children using real first aid kits and bandages, sparking endless hours of imaginative fun and learning.

The sunny weather has also been a highlight, with the children enjoying a fantastic Outdoor Ed afternoon. They explored the entire site, participating in a fun and educational activity where they built their own bug hotels.

In maths, the focus has shifted to shapes, and the children have demonstrated great understanding as they explored the similarities and differences between various shapes. It’s been a week full of hands-on learning and enjoyment!
