This summer term, Queen’s College begins a new partnership with Exeter City Community Trust, introducing additional football coaching for Prep School pupils.
Following this initial phase, the programme is planned to be rolled out to Senior School pupils from September, with further opportunities to build on the partnership in the next academic year.
The partnership will see Exeter City coaches deliver two football sessions each week as part of the co curricular programme. For those pupils who choose to take part, these sessions provide an opportunity to develop technical skills, understanding of the game, and confidence in a structured and supportive environment. There are plans to build on this further in the next academic year.
Learning Through Football
Football sessions are designed to be engaging and developmental, with a focus on enjoyment as well as improvement. Pupils are encouraged to build confidence, work collaboratively, and respond positively to challenges.

Working with external coaches also introduces pupils to different approaches and perspectives, while remaining within the familiar and supportive environment of the Prep School.
Tom Bell, Director of Sport at Queen’s College, said:
“We are very pleased to be working with Exeter City Community Trust. It is an opportunity to bring additional experience into our football provision and to share high quality coaching with our pupils.”
Ben Watson, Participation Lead at Exeter City Community Trust, added:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Queen’s College. It is a school that clearly values sport and pupil development, and we are looking forward to working with pupils and building something meaningful together.”
Summer Football Camps at Queen’s College
As part of the partnership, Exeter City Community Trust has also chosen the Queen’s College site to host residential camps for their Advanced Development Centre players this summer. Hosting them on site further strengthens the relationship between the Trust and the College.
Developing the Sports Offering
This partnership forms part of a wider period of development for sport at Queen’s College.
New Padel courts are currently under construction, and a HitZ cricket centre will open on site in early 2027, expanding the facilities available to pupils. Together, these developments support a broad and varied programme, encouraging pupils to engage with different sports and activities. These are in Partnership with other external bodies, Smash Padel and Hitz Cricket.

Looking Ahead
The Exeter City Community Trust partnership represents a considered step in the continued development of football at Queen’s College.
As the programme evolves, the focus remains on providing pupils with opportunities to take part, develop their skills, and enjoy being active, whether through the core sports programme or additional activities such as football.
