Nursery and Minis Round Up 07 March 2025

It has been a busy and exciting week in the Nursery, with children making the most of the warmer weather and celebrating Pancake Day with a delicious lunchtime treat.

In Cottontails, the focus book has been We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, sparking sensory exploration as children discovered different textures linked to the story. Outdoors, they embraced the sunshine, climbing, playing, and investigating the frozen water left behind from chilly nights.

Meanwhile, Puddleducks have enjoyed a pancake-themed week, setting up their very own pancake shop, role-playing as chefs and customers while discussing their favourite flavours and toppings. Pancake races added an element of fun and teamwork, while thoughtful discussions on kindness and friendship helped reinforce the importance of looking after one another.

For Queen’s Minis, the week has been filled with adventure. The ‘Grown With Us’ event welcomed grandparents into the school for a range of interactive activities, including planting, storytelling, and a pre-school ballet session. It was a joy to see the children share these special moments with their loved ones.

The weekly theme of Pirates set imaginations sailing, with children exploring floating and sinking through creative boat-building activities. They designed their own treasure maps and pirate hats, while the pirate ship role-play area provided the perfect setting for storytelling and teamwork.

World Book Day on Thursday added an extra buzz of excitement, with both children and staff dressing up in a variety of fun and creative costumes. The highlight of the day was a book hunt with the Reception children. Following a series of clues around the College grounds, they gathered pages from We’re Going on a Bear Hunt before coming together to read the story—creating a magical and memorable experience.
