Despite the wet weather, Year 2 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their recent school trip to Knightshayes Gardens, near Tiverton.
The children enthusiastically explored the expansive grounds. They spent time in the kitchen garden, diligently searching for edible foods and learning about where their food comes from. Their adventure continued into the woodland garden, where they investigated a diverse array of plant life and trees, observing the wonders of nature firsthand. A particular highlight for some of the children was learning about Floriography, the Victorian language of flowers. They were fascinated to discover the secret meanings attributed to different blooms, a unique insight into historical communication.
Later in the morning, they explored the main house; scouring for artefacts and learning about the fascinating history of the estate from the volunteers who were sharing their vast knowledge with us.The pupils demonstrated excellent manners, great resilience and an eagerness to learn, making the most of their outdoor educational experience despite the damp conditions.
