Queen’s College proudly flew the flag for Somerset and food education excellence at The Game Fair 2025, held at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, the UK’s largest celebration of countryside heritage, field sports, and food, drawing over 130,000 visitors throughout the weekend.
Invited by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), one of the show’s principal sponsors, Mr Joe Mann, Head of Art, Design & Food, represented Queen’s College at the prestigious BASC Members’ Stand in the centre of the show, co-hosting daily live cookery demonstrations and preparing quality British game dishes.
As the top-performing school nationally in the BASC Eat Game Awards for the past four consecutive years, and winners of the ‘Champion of Champions’ title in 2024, Queen’s College is recognised as the leading school in the UK for game education and cookery. The College’s appearance at The Game Fair 2025 cemented this position, not just through live demonstrations but also through new high-impact national exposure.
In a bold statement of the status, Queen’s College was proudly featured on screens at the show, including the giant 42-square-metre LED screen located in the very centre of the 5,600-acre Ragley Hall estate, positioned high above the iconic Main Arena. A dynamic new video advert showcased Queen’s College and Mr Mann preparing game dishes for BASC, and played in continuous rotation, broadcasting Queen’s College’s excellence in Food and Nutrition education to the entire audience of over 130,000 visitors attending the national show.
“It was a true honour to bring Queen’s College to the very heart of The Game Fair 2025,” said Mr Mann. “To be recognised nationally for our work with game, its sustainability and food provenance, and to have that shared on such a massive national platform this year, was an incredibly proud moment. Visitors left not only inspired by new recipes and techniques, but also with a deeper understanding of how we integrate sustainability, food provenance and game every day.”
Mr Mann was there alongside some of Britain’s most respected game chefs, including Amy Thompson, Rachel Green, famous nutrionist Eva Humphries, Chris Marney, from Game For Anything, the Michelin-Starred Chef Mark Kempson (three-time winner of the Eat Game Awards for Best Restaurant and Best Chef) and the esteemed Jose Souto, Senior Chef Lecturer at Westminster Kingsway, former House of Commons Chef, Food Writer and Craft Guild of Chefs’ Chef Lecturer of the Year. Importantly, the show wasn’t just attended by chefs and foodies, but pupils, their families and staff from Queen’s College also came along to enjoy the event, showing their support and sharing in the pride of seeing the College so prominently featured on the national stage.
And finally, in a heart-warming little twist to the weekend, Queen’s College’s own ‘Chef Ted’, the beloved teddy mascot of the Food Department, also joined the team at The Game Fair 2025! Spotted in chefs’ whites at live cooking demonstrations, wandering the stalls, and making friends across the entire site, ‘Chef Ted’ brought smiles wherever he went, promoting Queen’s College to children and families across the site. Chef Ted was truly living his best foodie life!
