Highgrove Nursery
The children in all three playrooms at Highgrove this week have been learning about and exploring Chinese New year.
There have been activities to make Chinese lanterns, role play areas set up as a Chinese restaurant with red plates and cups with bowls. The sensory trays were full of noodles with the opportunity to try their skills using chopsticks. The older children also had so much fun creating their own dragon to parade around the nursery along to some Chinese celebration music.
Minis
The children in Queen’s Minis concluded their exploration of “The Three Bears” with gusto. During circle time, they used props to express themselves and add details while retelling the classic story. Individually, they created their own unique “Three Bears” storybooks.
In the kitchen/garden club the children whipped up delicious flapjacks while learning about the origins of oats.
In PE, they put their teamwork skills to the test with playful porridge bowl and spoon relay games.
This week’s Forest School session ventured beyond the classroom, taking the children to the College playing fields for a live-action performance of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.” This immersive experience honed their listening and understanding of instructions outside the familiar school environment.
